Why do all female CBs use a flat shield? Wouldn't a cupped shield make more sense? The outer labiae would sit inside the cup slightly (the cup being deep enough for an air gap) preventing even the more agile finger from reaching anything. Hygiene would be a bit easier as there is less skin in contact with metal to retain urine. it would also be easier to urinate as there is no pressure of the shield on the uretra to impede the flow. |

If you look at http://www.my-steel.de/ you will find they offer male and female frontal shields with a convex shape as an option. This makes the shield much stiffer, but has benefits. |

The Mathieu female chastity belt (item #40133 in their 1904 catalogue, which catalogue reference is reproduced as illustration #6a of Alex Comfort's The Anxiety Makers) has a slightly domed-out grille for a sheild. So did the chastity belt I saw in the window of an orthotics ("Pour votre fille, contra l'onanisme") shop in Paris in November 1966 have a double-convex grille, of what appeared to be stiff screen material. ('Tis pity I have no French, for I was consumed with curiosity. The Belt appeared in context of a display of artificial limbs, back- & leg-braces, walkers, major sickroom equipment, etcetera of like ilk; so I infer it was presented for serious use by someone who meant business with its use on someone else.) Carrara has a female belt with a veritable lobster-tail of a front sheild. Because I can infer the detailed handwork than would go into fabricating that, I am in gobsmacked awe, no irony express nor implied. That sheild looks as if it were formed out of a single piece of sheet steel with a complex myriad of laser-cuts, then meticulously bent into shape. The insuperable problem, is that a chastity belt needs must be what our cousins across the Pond call a "one-off." The pattern might be more or less constant, but the proportions are identity-linked unique to each different Steel Angel. Hence, making a chastity belt is a proposition highly intensive of highly skilled labor. That problem is not relieved as much as a totally non-technical lay-person might think, by technology. While I do not think that preventing a lass from masturbating is mundanely necessary, I concur with Mr. Hamilton in advocating the cup configuration as an option, on grounds that I believe this would make the chastity belt more comfortable for a lass to wear it. Here in the West, mundanely serious use of the chastity belt rests squarely on the wearer's consent. It seems to me to stand to reason that the more physically comfortable the chastity belt is to wear, and the more emotionally comfortable the Rule of that Belt is (tailored to the idiosyncracies of the lass), the firmer her consent will be. Susan, The convex crotch strap option from My-Steel you refer to is not quite deep enough. From the picture on their site it appears to dip at most 1/2 inch. Hardly enough to leave an air gap between the shield and the labiae. In my estimation it would have to be at least an inch deep. You bring up a good point when you mention the increased rigidity of the shield which would make it less comfortable but this could be alleviated somewhat with the super ergonomic design. This belt design uses more of the hip bones to anchor the belt and less of the waist/spine being lower in the front and back. Robert, Unfortunately, the Mathieu catalog is no longer available. I had something a little more contemporary in mind. The Carrera belt you mention does meet my criteriae(s?). I had forgotten about that one, perhaps because it has little estetic appeal to me. The belt you saw in the orthotics shop in Paris "Pour votre fille, contre l'onanisme" (For your daughter, against masturbation) brings to mind two things. First I am reminded of Tex, the young lady who was fitted for a belt by an orthotist as the price to pay to attend an out of town college. Second, I am always surprised at how much more open the French are about sexuality regardless of the slant it may take. The belt is right there in the shop window for all to see, love it! Of course today with the internet all fences are down. Hamilton |

It almost seems to me that you are trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist. My girlfriend never complained about the slot type front shield. Her labia protruded through it somewhat which kept urine from getting inside the front shield at all. The secondary shield kept the labia from being pinched but required a bit of a rinse after urination to be clean. It was hard to get that area completely dry but a "light days" pad seemed to take care of any residual moisture. Her only real complaint was the width of the front shield. It tended to press into her thigh muscles when laying on her side to sleep. Well, she did have other complaints but they were not legit. |
