Online Auction Help
Updated 11-28-98
The idea behind the online auction is simple. Anyone anywhere can sell their stuff, to anyone else, anywhere! Check out eBay if you've never even heard of this before.
The idea is simple, to participate in an auction, first you register on the auction site. When you register, you pick a user name, and enter your email address, and snail mail address. Your password will be mailed to you. Once you get your password, you can change it, or keep it the same. (Your snail mail address will only be given to a seller if you are a winning bidder, or a winning buyer if you are the seller of an item.)
Now that you have a user name and password, you can post an item to the site, and customize the auction to your specifications. When the auction is complete, both you and the buyer are notified by email. This email contains both your mail addresses, so the buyer can send a check, and the seller knows where to ship the item.
To bid on an item, you must register yourself. Then bid on the item on its screen. Once the auction is over, you'll recieve an email which tells you where to send payment for the item.
The auction concept only works if the following happens:
- All sellers are legitimately selling goods. Anyone frauding or lying about goods for sale will be banned from future sales.
- All buyers must actually pay for mechandise. Again, if the buyers do not pay, they will be banned from participation in future auctions.
- Communication between buyers and sellers is key. Sellers should be sure that all terms of sale are outlined clearly. Buyers should be sure they are buying what they believe they are buying.
- Please be sure to list shipping charges if the buyer is expected to pay them.
- Also, please pack well, or INSURE your mechandise!
My Part in Your Auctions:
- I can not and do not guarantee the quality or validity of the items listed in any auctions.
- I do not request, nor expect a fee to be paid to me for any sale in the auctions. If you wish to donate any cash however, I won't mind at all! :->
- I will do my best to protect the security of any personal information entered in your user registrations. (They are kept in a secure directory on my web server.)
